Reenactment of the Battle of Monteaperti
Reenactment of the Historic Battle Fought on September 4, 1260 Between Guelphs from Florence and Ghibellines from Siena!
The Municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, as every year, hosts the celebrations for this historic event. Here is the PROGRAM for this edition:
- Sunday, September 1st:
9:30 PM - Argentine tango evening.
- Tuesday, September 3rd:
8:00 PM - Aperiopera 9:30 PM - Libiam nei lieti calici with "La Traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi. A selection of the opera will be performed by the Liricorando choir, directed by Cristina Ferri, accompanied on the piano by Maestro Simone Marziali.
- Wednesday, September 4th:
5:30 PM - Act of consecration to the Madonna del Voto at the small church of the Martyrdom of St. Ansano. At the end, a medieval costume parade will depart towards Montaperti, joined by drummers and the authorities of the Municipalities and the Magistrato delle Contrade. 6:00 PM - Book presentation 6:30 PM - Monteaperti awards Montaperti prize 8:00 PM - Battle dinner with historical presentations 9:30 PM - Torchlight procession to the Cippo and greetings from the authorities.
- Friday, September 6th:
8:00 PM - Fish dinner in Casetta, during which there will be a performance by the dance school "All Dance World" featuring the world champion of choreographic dance, Giorgio Serdini.
- Saturday, September 7th:
8:00 PM - Dinner under the tent 9:30 PM - Dance party with the Federico Verreschi Orchestra 11:30 PM - Performance by the dance school "Nemo Dance"
- Sunday, September 8th:
1st competition of the Italian Championship of Ancient Handheld Crossbow Shooting 8:30 AM - Gathering and welcome of participants 9:30 AM - Competition 1:00 PM - Lunch 3:00 PM - Awards ceremony 8:00 PM - Pizza night 9:30 PM - Dance party, free entry.
The event is organized by the Municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga in collaboration with the Municipality of Asciano, with the Patronage of the Municipality of Siena.
