Meeting on the Pieve of Sant’Ippolito and the Via Lauretana

  • A journey through history, art and pilgrimage

On Saturday, 4 July 2026, the Auditorium of the Basilica of Sant'Agata in Asciano will host the study day "A Fresco, a Pilgrimage Route. The Sacra Conversazione in the Pieve of Sant'Ippolito and the Sienese Via Lauretana".

The initiative, promoted by Dialogues and organized by the associations FIDAM and A.R.C.A., with the patronage and support of the Municipality of Asciano, will focus on the historical and artistic significance of the fresco preserved in the Pieve of Sant'Ippolito and its relationship with the territory crossed by the Sienese Via Lauretana.

The event will provide an opportunity for study and discussion aimed at enhancing local cultural heritage through new research and critical perspectives, with particular attention to the figure of the young Saint Hippolytus depicted in the artwork and to the historical connections linking art, landscape and pilgrimage routes.

VENUE: Auditorium of the Basilica of Sant'Agata
    TIME: 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

On 4 and 5 July, guided tours will also be available to the fresco in the Church of Sant'Ippolito (10:00 am–12:00 pm), as well as to Palazzo Corboli Museum and Cassioli Museum. Booking is required by 29 June.
