Places and Stories – Author’s Stops
Geology and Poetry of the Crete Senesi
Join us for the travelling cultural series “Places and Stories – Author’s Stops”, organized by Toscana Libri and coordinated by the Municipal Library of the Intronati of Siena, with the support of 32 municipalities across the Siena area.
The initiative aims to explore the history, culture, and identity (genius loci) of places through events held in historical sites and archives throughout the province.
On April 17, the event will take place in Asciano, where an engaging journey between science and words awaits you.
Millions of years ago, this land was covered by the sea—the Pliocene Sea—which, after retreating, left traces in clay, gypsum, and rock salt. A unique landscape that has become an icon and a source of inspiration for travelers, poets, and writers, speaking directly to the soul.

Leonardo Canapini (Geology postgraduate, University of Siena)
Luigi Oliveto (writer and essayist)
Duccio Oliveto and Paola Lambardi (readings)
