Asciano Sound Festival

  • A Sound journey into the heart of Tuscany

    From July 7 to 13, Asciano Suono Festival is set to captivate audiences once again with seven days of special events in the heart of the Crete Senesi, culminating in a not-to-be-missed grand finale on July 26 in the spectacular setting of the Anfiteatro delle Crete.

    “The Sound of Peace” is the theme chosen for this year’s edition—a powerful and urgent message, expressed by Artistic Director Cesare Picco:

    “Peace has a precise sound. When we recognize and experience it, we understand its importance and urgency. Without this specific vibration, humanity is lost. This sound is the only one that can harmonize our present and the future of generations to come.”

    This is a festival that blends music, reflection, and the land itself, with concerts, talks, performances, and moments of shared listening in the most evocative locations of Asciano and its surroundings.

    Many artists will bring their sounds and their art into dialogue with the extraordinary nature of the Crete Senesi, offering the audience a precious moment of listening and exchange.
    The Festival will kick off on Monday, July 7 in Arbia (Asciano) with pianist Andrea Missiroli, launching a full week of unmissable concerts at different times of the day.

    Among the Festival’s special productions:

    • Daria Bignardi (July 12) leads the audience on a discovery of the hidden sounds within the pages of her latest novel “Every Prison is an Island”, accompanied by the string quartet of the prestigious Italian Philharmonic Orchestra;

    • Davide Varrucciu, “The Birdsman” – a falconer and expert in this ancient art – brings his birds of prey to fly through the Crete Senesi at sunset (July 11);

    • The Greek music ensemble Evì Evàn Rebetiko (July 8) transforms the center of Asciano into an old Greek tavern;

    • Middle Eastern beats and breaths with the band Fusaifusa, and wonder-filled sounds for children with LA PRINCI and her show “Fiabolle” (July 10);

    • A dive into Mediterranean scents and rhythms with the Apulian vocal quartet Faraualla (July 11);

    • The shimmering baroque harpsichord of Francesco Cera (July 9) in the enchanting setting of the Abbey of Monte Oliveto;

    • And after the moving sunrise concert by cellist Antonio Cortesi, a grand finale in the evening with Irish music and dance from Willo’s (July 12).

    Asciano Suono Festival is a production of the Associazione Asciano Suoni Arti e Culture E.T.S., in collaboration with the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana and the Municipality of Asciano,
    under the patronage and with the support of the Tuscany Region.
